How can I get my hair to style/"spike" this way? Picture!?

(Please do not tell me that I shouldn't style my hair this way because it is ugly in your opinion. I personally like it, and you wouldn't even be answering my question! :P)

Here is the picture for reference:

I recently got my hair cut this way, and I love it. However, I can't seem to style it as I want to. When I straighten my hair (it's a bit wavy, I own a flat iron), it simply falls flat down over my head, but I want to be able to style it "out" like that picture, so the layers sort of stick and spike out.

Should I use gel/hairspray (any recommended products?)? And most importantly... HOW should I use them to achieve this style?

Thanks so, so much in advance! :)

Wax works the best but to keep it standing longer you can get a wax keep spray. Go to a salon, get tips and start styling.

I like that look a lot, actually. Maybe some styling gel would work... Probably what would work best is just to go to the place where you got your hair cut and just ask for advice, they'll probably have tons of solutions for you.

use hairspray and a hair dryer.

I would just try asking a hair dresser how to do it and let them show you how and then just do that.

Im not sure, it dosent look like they used hair gel on that... i actually like that look. I think that the made it like frizz up...so a hairdryer and hairsprey (little bit of hair sprey) This answer is like the one above...just keep expirimenting and you should find somthing similar!! HOPE THIS HELPS!!! ~Cookiedough~

The picture is very cute.If your hair isn't cut exact like the picture, too long or too short is won't do the same style.

If you have the right cut, you use layers of products conditioner

spray, gel, hair sprays,Take your blow dryer and move back

and forth over hair your styling.Like the strong wind outside would do.Layer products in the order I described.Maybe have someone at a Salon show you once.

Hoooly! My hair is exactly like that Lol! Its a fun cut if you do it right! My hair is wavy too and after I was it and let it dry straight, frankly it looks like a mess. The best thing to do is put volumizing styling creme in it while it's wet, blowdry it, then straighten the bottom long layers. Secure the long layers back in a low, loose ponytail and straighten the bangs (Always the hardest part for me, my bangs tend to be really curly) and straighten the top, really short layers. flip your head upside down (keeping the bangs out of the way) and spray the top, short layers with some strong hairspray. Backbrush only a few chunks of hair for drama, don't overdo the backbrushing, it hurts to brush it out! Use some pomade or wax to get a piecey look. You can experiment alot with this haircut, and it looks really dramatic when you are satisfied with it!

Good luck, I love the cut you chose!

The key is to blowdry your hair, flat-iron if needed, then run a hair wax (Bumble%26amp;Bumble's SUMO Wax is PERFECT for the job, I won't use anything else..) through the areas you want to spike, then focus on "fluffing" it up and creating volume and seperation (the chick in the photo has a LOT of volume..this can also be acheived by blowdrying the areas you wish to spike upwards at the roots) spray with a flexible hairspray such as Bumble%26amp;bumble's "does it all" brand hairspray

Have fun with it! Dont overstyle, just let the hair rock and roll and do its own thing!

my hairs like that but way shorter..

ok straightem the front.. bangs part going straight up so it sticks up aliittle. then im guessing you just straighten the rest..

as for all the tiny layers you want to spike.. either use a hair wax or super strengh hairspray when its just alittle damp.

i reccomend got2b freeze hairspray and wax. then just run your fingers through it upwards pulling it just a little a the roots so it kinda stands up then just wait for it to dry

Styling wax or pomade works pretty good.

backcomb

then hairspray

wide tooth comb to make it more in2 spikes

use wax to hold it

u need volume at the roots...put some talcum powder at the roots and fluff until its not longer white, it also causes static:)..which cud help with the electrocuted look:)
