i have a light brown colored hair and i think i want to die it black ...? but im scared it wont look good and what if i want my old hair back? it will look retarted if i try to grow it back it will be like half brown and black :/ here are some pictures of my hair now tell me what you think

Don't ever dye it black. Go for the darkest brown you can find, it won't look as harsh as black and you'll be able to change the color later if you wish. Black is impossible to change once it's in.

Be very careful I dyed my hair black once and it was just supposed to be a wash out color, it didn't wash out at all. And it gave me a lot of trouble dyeing over it.

If you really want to, go for it. Just make sure you pick the right shade %26amp; such because black isn't an easy color to bleach out or dye over.

Don't go black unless you know you want to keep it. Black is one of the hardest to get out. You will never have your natural back without growing it out. "Once you go black you never go back"

I don't think you would look good with black hair, but it's your choice. I suggest going to a salon and getting a pro to do it in case you mess it up. If you want the old color back then go back to the salon and tell them to dye it as close as possible to your natural color.

looks like you have real pretty hair...I really wouldn't go that far.......use a temp hair color that washes out.......and if you like the color...then dye it black

I really do not think you should color your hair black. Why, because once you go that dark the ONLY way to go lighter is to either 1. let it grow out or 2. bleach it out. So if I were you I wouldn't do that at all. Thought, from the pic you sent if that is you I think you should do your reg highlights and and some red ones into the mix. It will brighten up your face and give you more color.

Why don't you test a small lock towards the tips that can be cut off if you're that scared? Dying your hair damages it, so while taking the risk can be fun and there are some products that claim (never used them personally) to strip the dye out, it will still damage your hair. If you don't like it, you'd have to bleach it back. I'd say you need to be sure of yourself. Looking at your picture, it kind of depends. I think you look fine as you are, but that's not to say that the black would look bad. And are you sure you want black and not a dark brown? Do you want it to look more natural or more blue-black? These are all things you need to consider. The great thing about hair is that it grows back, but the downside is that if you damage it badly you'll have to cut it off and let it grow.

Few things if you do do it andyou are light skinned then it will make you more pale. But tan then it will be nice. Going black is more of a jump you either LOVE it or HATE it so make sure its something you really really want. If you hate it then you either have to wait for it to grow out or bleach or strip it ( not a good idea) so i hope you have a better idea of what you want. black can be nice just make sure its something you want!!!

i think it will look good. i love when people dye their hair darker i think it looks gorgeous.

i would buy a temporary dye that lasts a week or two just to know if you like it. however, i would NOT dye it permanently black. once your hair is black, you have to bleach it to get it to any other color. a friend of mine had a really nice blonde-brown hair color, dyed over it black, and decided he wanted his old color back. he went to a salon and dropped 80 bucks to fix it, but all they could do was bleach it to a blonde with green undertones. it looked TERRIBLE. and it kept growing out. for the longest time he had brown roots with a weird color tips.

I once allowed a friend to "bleach" my hair, lets just say that was a very bad idea!

As soon as she was finished I burst into tears, because my hair was multiple colours - red, orange and yellow.

I went to a hairdresser immediately afterwards and she refused to dye it, telling me that I would have to wait at least a week before she could do anything with it, telling me that if she dyed it again, it would be so brittle that it would break off and she would have to cut half of it off.

So I found another hairdresser that would dye my hair immediately and she dyed it "darkest brown" it ended up being black for a few weeks, but because I preferred anything over the multiple colours and my skin is so pale it didn't look too bad.

Now if you dye your hair black and don't like it you'll have to live with it until it all grows out or go see a hairdresser and get them to try and get it back to its original colour.

Try on a wig if you're desperate to go black, then decide!
